Who is a good candidate for Rejuran, and who is not?
Rejuran is a skin-rebuilding injection for texture, hydration and early fine lines, not a treatment for sagging or lost volume. It tends to suit skin that looks tired or dehydrated rather than skin that has visibly dropped. Which variant is used, and whether Rejuran is the right starting point at all, is decided after an in-person look at the skin.
- What is being treated
- Skin texture, dehydration and early fine lines
- Usually suits
- Dullness, dehydration and fine surface lines
- Also often raised for
- The under-eye area, usually with Rejuran I
- Less likely on its own
- Visible sagging or a significant loss of volume
- How it is decided
- In-person assessment of skin, plus a discussion of what you want to change
- Variants available at AUVEL Clinic
- Rejuran Healer, Rejuran HB and Rejuran I
- Tell the clinic beforehand
- Pregnancy, a known fish or salmon allergy, active skin infection, blood-thinning medication
“Skin booster” and “anti-aging” are not the same question
Messages about Rejuran tend to arrive in one of two forms: either as a question about fine lines and an aging face in general, or as a specific complaint about skin that looks dull, dehydrated, or rougher than it used to feel. Rejuran answers the second question far better than the first.
It works by prompting the skin to rebuild its own structure from within, which is a slower and more structural process than smoothing a line or filling a hollow. That makes it a reasonable tool for skin quality, and a poor substitute for anything that depends on restoring volume or lifting skin that has started to drop.
The two concerns can sit on the same face at the same time. Where that happens, the conversation is usually about combining Rejuran with something else rather than asking one injection to do both jobs.
What is actually examined before treatment
At AUVEL Clinic, the skin is looked at and touched before anything is recommended. Texture, hydration and the thickness of the skin are not reliably visible in a photo, and they decide both whether Rejuran is a sensible starting point and which variant fits.
AUVEL Clinic offers Rejuran Healer, Rejuran HB and Rejuran I. They share the same base ingredient — PN, a polynucleotide derived from salmon — but differ in formulation. Rejuran HB adds hyaluronic acid and a local anesthetic for hydration and comfort, Rejuran I is formulated for the thinner skin around the eyes, and Rejuran Healer is the base formulation most often used across the rest of the face. Which one fits is decided after assessment rather than by request.
Where the concern is mainly about the under-eye area specifically, that is usually raised and examined separately, since the skin there behaves differently from the rest of the face.
When Rejuran is a reasonable place to start
In practice, Rejuran is most often discussed with people who recognise one or more of the patterns below. These describe who tends to be a candidate worth assessing, not a guarantee of how any individual's skin will respond.
- Skin that looks dull or dehydrated rather than visibly sagging
- Fine surface lines that have started to show, particularly around the eyes
- A general sense that skin texture has become rougher or less even
- Wanting an injectable option with a short recovery rather than an ablative treatment
- Interest in a treatment that works gradually, over repeat sessions, rather than an immediate change
What downtime actually looks like
Because Rejuran is injected rather than ablative, there is no open wound to manage. What most people notice afterward is a scatter of small raised bumps at the injection points, along with mild redness or swelling in the treated area.
The bumps are an expected part of how the injection sits in the skin at first, not a sign of a problem, and they settle down over the following days as the product disperses. How quickly that happens, and how visible it is in the meantime, varies by variant and by individual, which is one of the things discussed at the assessment rather than promised in advance.
Most people are comfortable going about ordinary activity the same day. Makeup is best avoided for the rest of that day over the treated area, and the clinic will go through anything specific to your plan before you leave.
When it usually is not the whole answer
Where skin has visibly dropped, or where the change in your face is mainly about lost volume, Rejuran on its own tends to under-deliver against what most people are picturing. In those cases, the honest recommendation is usually a different treatment, or Rejuran alongside it rather than instead of it.
There is also a pacing question. Rejuran works through repeat sessions over time, so it is not matched well to someone who wants a single visible change before a specific date in the very near future.
A consultation that concludes with a different recommendation, or with “not yet”, is a normal outcome rather than a wasted appointment.
- Visible sagging or skin that has noticeably dropped
- A change in your face driven mainly by lost volume
- Wanting one visible result before an event in the next few days
What to tell the clinic before you book
Some of what decides suitability has nothing to do with how your skin looks. The points below are worth raising when you first make contact, since they can change the plan, the variant used, or the timing.
Pregnancy or possible pregnancy does not by itself explain every treatment decision, but Rejuran is generally avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and the clinic will discuss timing and alternatives. The remaining points below are not automatic exclusions; they are what allow the doctor to make that call properly, in person.
- You are pregnant, or think you may be
- You have a known allergy to fish or salmon, given the ingredient's origin
- You have an active skin infection or inflammation in the area to be treated
- You are taking blood-thinning medication or have a bleeding disorder
- You have had another injectable or laser treatment on the same area recently

Frequently asked questions
Is Rejuran a replacement for filler?
No. Rejuran works on skin texture and hydration rather than restoring lost volume. Where volume loss is the main concern, filler or a combined approach is usually discussed instead.
How do I know if my concern is texture or sagging?
This is one of the main reasons the assessment is done in person rather than from photos sent in advance. Dehydrated, dull-looking skin and skin that has started to drop can be described in similar words but are planned very differently.
Is Rejuran painful?
Rejuran HB includes a local anesthetic for comfort; Rejuran Healer and Rejuran I do not. Most people describe the sensation as manageable rather than severe, though what you feel can still vary by area, by variant and by individual.
What does recovery actually involve?
Expect small raised bumps at the injection points along with mild redness or swelling, which settle over the following days as part of how the treatment works. There is no open wound, and most people return to ordinary activity the same day.
Can I have Rejuran if I'm allergic to fish?
This must be confirmed with the clinic before you book, not left until the day of treatment. PN, the key ingredient, is a polynucleotide derived from salmon, and a known fish or salmon allergy needs to be assessed by the doctor in advance.
Can I be assessed remotely before flying to Seoul?
You can describe your concern over WhatsApp in English or Chinese beforehand, which helps the visit get planned around it. The suitability judgment and the choice of variant are confirmed in person, since texture and hydration cannot be assessed from a photo.
