Sagging starts beneath the skin, not on it

Under the skin there is fat, a layer of fascia, and thin fibrous septa that hold the two together.

With age or weight loss these septa loosen, fat and skin slide downward, and the edge of the jawline blurs.

That's why methods that only pull on the surface have limits.

  1. SkinThe layer you see
  2. Fat · fibrous septaWhere sagging begins when they loosen
  3. FasciaThe sheet that supports the face
  4. LigamentsAnchors that hold the structure in place

3 common myths about lifting

Options

The options so far — and the gap in between

These were the ways to address a sagging jawline. But stage 3 — not enough for surface treatments, yet too early for surgery — had nothing for it.

85°C beneath the skin, 41°C or below on the surface

The heat briefly reaches the fibrous septa beneath the skin, not the surface. Here is the manufacturer's mechanism-of-action video.

  1. A thin cannula enters beneath the skin through a small entry point
  2. Helium plasma forms at the tip and delivers brief, precise heat
  3. The heated fibrous septa contract, helping lift the loosened layers

Precision, shown with an egg in the palm

The manufacturer's egg experiment shows whether only the spot the energy touches reacts, while what lies just beneath stays unchanged.

This is an experiment, not an actual treatment
  1. At 40% power — only a thin surface layer of the egg white turns white
  2. Peel away the cooked surface, and the egg white just beneath is unchanged
  3. Even at 100% power on the yolk, the rest of the yolk is unchanged

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

The type of anesthesia depends on the treatment area and is explained after your consultation.

Will it leave scars?

It isn't surgery that cuts and pulls; it's done through small entry points. A small mark may remain at the entry points.

Are there side effects?

Swelling, temporary changes in sensation, bruising and redness are common, and most settle over time. We explain these in detail at your consultation.

When will I see a difference?

After the swelling goes down, we check together at follow-up how the tissue settles. Results vary by person.

How long does it last?

It depends on skin thickness, the degree of sagging and lifestyle.

How is it different from a facelift or thread lift?

A facelift is surgery that cuts and pulls; a thread lift lifts with threads. Renuvion delivers heat to the tissue beneath the skin through small entry points to contract it, without cutting and pulling. If sagging is significant, a facelift may be the better fit, so we start by assessing your stage.

Does it help neck lines?

Renuvion is FDA-cleared in the US for improving loose skin of the neck and under the chin. Deep horizontal neck lines may call for other treatments as well, which we explain at your consultation.

How much does Renuvion cost?

It depends on the area and extent. Message us and we'll let you know.

Can I combine it with Ulthera, Thermage or ligament lifting?

We plan the order in stages according to your stage of sagging.
