Can ligament lifting and Renuvion be done together, or do they need to be separate visits?
They're often planned together as a strategy, but usually not injected and treated in the same motion. Ligament lifting adds filler-based support, and Renuvion contracts tissue beneath the skin, and which one comes first, or whether both are needed at all, depends on your stage of sagging rather than a fixed combination.
- Ligament lifting does
- Adds filler-based support at weakened points beneath the skin
- Renuvion does
- Contracts loosened tissue directly beneath the skin with heat
- Often discussed together at
- Stage 3–4 sagging, where support has weakened and the jawline edge has blurred
- Usually not needed together at
- Stage 1–2, where one or the other is often enough alone
- Typical order
- Decided per face — sometimes support first, sometimes contraction first
- Same visit or separate
- Often planned as separate steps rather than one combined session
- How it is decided
- In-person assessment of your stage of sagging
Why 'combined' doesn't mean 'at the same time'
Ligament lifting and Renuvion are often mentioned in the same sentence because they frequently show up in the same treatment plan — not because they're interchangeable or meant to be injected together. Ligament lifting is a filler technique that supports weakened points beneath sagging skin. Renuvion is an energy-based treatment that contracts loosened tissue directly beneath the skin.
A face that is only tightened without addressing support where it's needed tends to look pulled rather than natural, and tends to slip back over time. That's the practical reason the two get planned together — contraction alone, or support alone, often isn't the complete picture once sagging has progressed.
Where each one fits by stage
AUVEL Clinic uses a four-stage way of discussing jawline sagging. It's a starting point for a consultation, not a self-diagnosis.
- Stage 1 — mild loss of firmness: energy-based lifting such as Ulthera or Thermage is often enough alone
- Stage 2 — jawline softening: ligament lifting for support is usually discussed first, often without Renuvion yet
- Stage 3 — a blurred jawline edge: this is where Renuvion is usually raised, often planned alongside ligament lifting
- Stage 4 — pronounced sagging: Renuvion combined with ligament lifting, or a conversation about surgery, is the honest discussion
Why they're usually sequenced, not merged
Renuvion works by delivering heat to the fibrous septa beneath the skin through small entry points. Ligament lifting places filler at specific support points using the MD Codes map. Planning both into a single pass would mean treating two different structures without being able to properly assess how each one responds on its own.
In practice, the clinic typically decides which comes first based on what's driving your particular case — weakened support, loosened tissue beneath the skin, or both — and sequences the two accordingly, sometimes within a short span of time and sometimes further apart.
When only one of the two is the honest recommendation
Not every face at stage 3 or 4 needs both. Where the issue is clearly weakened support with no deeper tissue laxity, ligament lifting alone may be enough. Where the jawline edge has blurred but support is still reasonably intact, Renuvion alone may be the recommendation.
Adding a second treatment 'to be thorough' when your face doesn't call for it isn't how AUVEL Clinic approaches this — the plan is built around what your particular face needs, not a standard package.
What to tell the clinic before you book
Since the two treatments work on different structures with different risk profiles, it helps to mention the following when you first make contact.
- Any filler, threads or energy-based devices used on the jawline previously, and when
- Any bleeding disorder or blood-thinning medication
- Pregnancy, or thinking you may be pregnant
- Any event or deadline you're planning your visit around

Frequently asked questions
Do I need both ligament lifting and Renuvion?
Not necessarily. Whether you need one, the other, or both depends on your stage of sagging, confirmed at an in-person assessment.
Are they done in the same session?
Usually planned as separate steps rather than merged into one session, since they work on different structures beneath the skin.
Which one comes first?
It depends on what's driving your case. Sometimes support (ligament lifting) is addressed first, sometimes contraction (Renuvion) is, decided at consultation.
What if I only need one of the two?
Then only one is recommended. AUVEL Clinic's approach is to treat what your face actually needs rather than adding a second treatment by default.
Can I get an early read before flying to Seoul?
A side-profile photo over WhatsApp in English or Chinese can give a general first impression. The confirmed plan is set in person.
